Does plaquenil have blood thinning properties

It's used to treat and prevent malaria infection, and to reduce symptoms and progression of autoimmune diseases such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and others. Malaria is spread by mosquitoes, which transmit the parasites that cause the infection, usually in tropical and subtropical parts of the world.

Feb 19, 2020 Plaquenil hydroxychloroquine is an antimalarial medication used to treat or prevent malaria, a disease caused by parasites, which enter the body through the bite of a mosquito. Plaquenil is also used to treat symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and discoid or systemic lupus erythematosus. Elderberry is also taken by mouth for sinus pain, back and leg pain sciatica, nerve pain neuralgia, and chronic fatigue syndrome CFS. Some people also take elderberry by mouth for hay fever allergic rhinitis, cancer, as a laxative for constipation, to increase urine flow, and to cause sweating. Both chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine have excellent oral absorption and bioavailability. Both have a long and variable plasma elimination half-life because of a high volume of distribution, an extended mean residence time HCQ 1300 hours and CQ 900 hours and with about half the drug metabolites undergoing unmodified renal clearance.

For example, it may be combined with an antibiotic to treat chronic Q-fever, which humans usually catch from farm animals or raw milk. Plaquenil is used to treat other types of infections too.

Lupus Board Index is plaquenil a blood thinner Apr 10, 2019 You should not use Plaquenil if you are allergic to hydroxychloroquine. Plaquenil should not be used for long-term treatment in children. To make sure Plaquenil is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have a history of vision changes or damage to your retina caused by an anti-malaria medication; One of Plaquenil's beneficial side effects is that it slightly thins the blood, whatever the mechanism of action. I am sure the docs will get it sorted out soon - this can't be an unusual situation. I also want to endorse Raglet's comments about diet.
