    Zithromax is a branded medication manufactured by Pfizer. It contains azithromycin, an antibiotic which kills bacteria. Zithromax tablets therefore work in the same way as generic azithromycin but comes in branded packaging. Branded medicines can be slightly more expensive than generic medication. If you need to take Zithromax during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, speak to your local GP. Your GP will assess whether the tablets are suitable for you.
